Bulldogs vice-captain Lachie Hunter has crashed his car after drink driving, according to AFL Media's Mitch Cleary.

The 25-year old reportedly fled the scene after crashing into four parked cars and later returned a blood alcohol limit over twice the legal limit (0.123).

He was reportedly fined $1652 for breaking COVID-19 public health orders and will lose his licence for 12 months.

"Lachie Hunter's car had smashed into a group of parked car," SEN Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund said on SEN Breakfast.

"Police say he blew an alcohol reading of more than twice the legal limit, that being 0.123. He was fined for breaching public health orders."

It is believed that the incident occurred around 8.45pm on Thursday night, with police arriving at the scene to discover the Toyota SUV smashed into four parked cars and the midfielder's training bag in the backseat but no sign on him.

Edmund reports that Hunter simply spoke to neighbours after the crash and left his license with them before going to a friend's house in South Yarra.

It is understood that Hunter had an argument with a loved one before the incident.

Western Bulldogs president Peter Gordon told SEN Breakfast: “We’ll obviously investigate and football is pretty prominent in people’s lives, but this isn’t the message we want to send.

“When we know more about it we’ll have more to say about it.

“Lachie is a good young man and sadly it is a reflection of not dealing at all appropriately with the pressure a lot of people are under and the circumstances in which we live.

“You can’t use that as an excuse, this is behaviour we don’t want to see and we’ll get an explanation for it, get the circumstances, but the message we want to send is people is during these difficult times is you need to put extra effort into sticking to the community effort.”
