Collingwood forward Tim Membrey suffered a hamstring injury in Collingwood's Anzac Day win over Essendon.

The injury is set to rule Membrey out of the next month after kicking nine goals in the first seven matches of the season.

It follows the Pies putting their highest score on the board since May 30 last year on Anzac Day.

Recruit Jack Buller looms as the obvious replacement after kicking five goals in the VFL on Friday.

The tall forward played the first two matches of Collingwood's season but was omitted after averaging just seven disposals.

Youngster Charlie West is also a chance after kicking four goals in the state league.

He has featured just once at AFL level, in Round 16 against West Coast last year, but has put up strong performances in the VFL for the last 12 months.

Membrey's injury follows confirmation that Scott Pendlebury will be rested against Hawthorn and skipper Darcy Moore will return.

Geelong's Gryan Miers will push for a return in the next one to three weeks following fears of his season being over with a knee injury. He remains on an individualised program.

Mark Blicavs will miss this week's match after left knee injury against Port Adelaide.

Hawthorn's Will Day is a week away from resuming full training as he continues his recovery from a shoulder injury and is eyeing a return in the next four weeks.

Liam Ryan is in doubt to feature for St Kilda after being admitted to hospital following the Saints' win over West Coast due to a hip injury.

Meanwhile, Richmond's Josh Gibcus will be sidelined for an indefinite period with ACL sprain he sustained in the first quarter of Richmond VFL's loss to Casey.

"He will sit out the next little while as we decide what our best course of action is going to be. It is an uncommon injury, so we need to be considered with our approach for his return to play," Richmond High Performance Manager Ben Serpell said.

Second-year player Josh Smillie has suffered yet another fresh quad setback.

“Sadly, since last week's update, we saw Josh Smillie go out and train. He was kicking a light ball with Jack Ziebell on the field, and he sustained a small re-tear of the injury he acquired in February earlier this year,” Serpell said.

“To be clear, the original surgical site's still intact, so we are going to shift him back to the TBC time frame."
Sydney's Tom McCartin suffered a knee ligament sprain set to sideline him for the next two to three weeks, while Isaac Heeney will return from the calf soreness which sidelined him against Western Bulldogs.
