Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick has raised questions about the need to name Sunday squads on a Thursday night.
The Suns take on GWS on Sunday and did not have their main training until Friday, causing extra work for under pressure football department staff to name a squad of 26 players.
The Suns managed first year trio Zeke Uwland, Dylan Patterson and Jai Murray but Hardwick has flagged some changes to the squad may occur.
"It's difficult because we've got to name the squad last night, we haven't even trained, so this is the one thing we speak to the AFL about all the time, it just creates another day of work and phone calls and communication where we haven't even trained," Hardwick said on Friday.
"We should be picking the side today (Friday) not yesterday but the AFL love to get it for Supercoach and all of that stuff so we can understand it but it's just one of those ones we work our way through but we may have some late changes to our squad because there will be some things that we will work through today but we'll obviously get a better understanding of that once we've trained."
It's an issue several clubs must navigate each week given it is common for teams in Sunday matches to train on Friday, and it is particularly problematic when sides are navigating injury concerns.
The Suns will be looking to snap the longest current losing streak in the AFL on Sunday, while GWS must win to keep alive its Wildcard Round ambitions.
