Brisbane Lions recruit Oscar Allen will miss the next 12-14 weeks with a foot injury.

The key forward will go under the knife tomorrow after fracturing his foot against Adelaide on Sunday.

He left the field late in the last quarter and continued to experience soreness after the match, and was subsequently sent for scans, which revealed the injury.

The former West Coast captain joined the Lions from the Eagles via a highly publicised free agency move in the off-season and has kicked 12 goals through seven games.

He has 163 goals through a 112-game career and he has been plagued by calf, Achilles and knee injuries in recent years.

With Eric Hipwood, Jack Payne and Darcy Gardiner sidelined, Brisbane's key-position stocks will be stretched thin.

Meanwhile, veteran Dayne Zorko is expected to return from a calf injury and Noah Answerth remains in concussion protocols.

Brisbane faces Essendon at Marvel Stadium on Saturday off the back of a confidence-boosting win against Adelaide.
