St Kilda great Brendon Goddard and former conditioning coach David Misson have returned to Moorabbin.

Goddard, 37, and Misson will be the latest ex-Saints figures to return to the club following the appointment of Ross Lyon as senior coach and club greats Robert Harvey and Lenny Hayes as assistants.

The wave of changes come in the same off-season as Brett Ratten's shock sacking, while Brendon Lade and Ben McGlynn have also departed the club.

On Friday afternoon, the Saints confirmed Goddard will link up with St Kilda in a development coaching role.

“Brendon also has clear passion for the growth of this club, having played over 200 games in the red, white and black,” Saints football boss Geoff Walsh said.

“A quality player throughout his career, Brendon has been honing his coaching skills in the VAFA and we're pleased to be welcoming him to the program to assist Damian Carroll with our player development.

“We look forward to welcoming David, Brendon and their families to RSEA Park in the coming days."

Goddard played 205 games in the red, white and black, winning All-Australia honours twice during his time with the Saints.

The Traralgon product would depart St Kilda for Essendon at the end of the 2012 season - 12 months after Lyon left the club to join Fremantle.

Goddard's AFL career concluded at the end of 2018 after 129 games with Essendon.

Misson previously held a role as St Kilda's conditioning coach under Lyon and has since taken on roles with Melbourne and NRL franchise the Sydney Roosters.

The Saints have confirmed Misson be be "a key liaison between the faculties of coaching, high performance and medical."

“David brings over 25 years of experience to the role, having worked with the Australian men's cricket team, across the AFL industry with Sydney, St Kilda and Melbourne, and most recently with the Sydney Roosters in the NRL," Walsh said.

“His ability to maximise the physical potential of an athlete and contribute to overall high performance goals of an organisation is unmatched, and we are excited to have someone of his calibre in our program.

“David will work across all areas of our program, particularly with Head of Performance and Conditioning Nick Walsh, and the physio and medical staff."
