It's that time again to take a lighter look into the big week following the 2021 AFL Grand Final.
Here's what's happened this week.
Neale Daniher Celebrates His Beloved Demons Win
Melbourne broke their 57-year premiership drought last Saturday night and nobody celebrated harder than AFL legend Neale Daniher, who shared his delight to Instagram.
Unfortunately for Neale, he was denied the opportunity to celebrate the special moment live in Perth due to ongoing COVID restrictions however the smile on his face proves that the location did not matter as long as the team in red and blue held the cup after the final siren.
Many fans, both Dees and others, re-shared the photo of Neale to their Instagram stories to celebrate the Dees great win with him.
Gawny the Goat celebrates the massive Grand Final win! ๐ย ย
Demons skipper Max Gawn had a stellar performance in the Grand Final and the games leading up to it, so naturally, the victory warranted this post-match celebration.

The Match was well fought between the Demons and the Dogs in the first half, however it was the third quarter that saw the Dees excel to victory over the Dogs.
Melbourne ended up thrashing the Dogs by 74 points and perhaps a few extra fans jumped on the Demon bandwagon as they were basically declared winners with 10 minutes of playing time still to go.
Former AFL player and media personality Daniel Gorringe showed his loyal support for the Demons via this tweet he sent out last week.
Always gone for the Deeโs, ever since the 3rd qtr.

...And how every Dee fan woke up the next morning!
Fans also got creative in the lead to the match, with Twitter user Matt Stewart creating the Hollywood version of the AFL Grand Final via this tweet below.
It is safe to say he picked the team and matched the players with Hollywood stars quite well!

Dogs yield to none, except the Demons
The Dogs started off the game strongly and had the hopes of their fans weighing on their shoulders, but the team failed to maintain the momentum in the final minutes of the match.
Fans expressed their feelings in different ways on social media with some planning to plot revenge and others graciously accepting defeat.
Take a look at what some supporters posted ๐

I was so hopeful after that 2nd quarter and start of the third - but it went south, quick. Tough loss but great season @westernbulldogs ! Next year! #MightyWest

Credit to all the Western Bulldogs fans I follow on Twitter - you all took the loss gracefully, gave credit to the Dees and can appreciate their joy, after going through something similar a few years ago. No blaming umpires or giving excuses. Great to see ๐

The live entertainment and how people responded ๐ตย
Leading up to the big day, the AFL's choice of live entertainment was heavily criticised by many however the Aussie artists were commended on the socials for their performances.
The entertainment consisted of Australian musicians including Birds from Tokyo, Baker Boy and Eskimo Jo,e who performed in front of a crowd of over 60,000.
Although the game was not played at the MCG - the traditional home ground - Perth certainly provided a spectacular show for viewers across the country to enjoy.

Grand Final Kick Ons ๐ค
After their euphoric win over the Dogs, the Demons celebrated long into the next couple of days - and shared videos on social media of their day party celebration in Perth.
The club partied with a DJ who played some cracking tunes for the team and coach Simon Goodwin and Max Gawn lead the way with a boogie to kick off the kick-ons.
Fingers crossed no injuries before pre-season ๐ฌ
Versatile midfielder James Harmes proved his moves are not reserved to the footy field as he displayed this epic shuffle to Melbourne Sound while his teammates cheered him on.

The Grand Final commentary and presentation raised a few eyebrows ๐ย
Despite Perth putting on a fantastic show in WA, Lord Mayor and Channel 7 presenter Basil Zempilas copped backlash over his handling of the presentation.
Supporters expressed their frustration on social media due to Simon Goodwin missing an opportunity to make a speech during the awards ceremony. Zempilas was the presentation's MC and has since apologised for getting the presentation wrong.
Here's what some fans had to say on Twitter...
Why did you announce norm smith? And did you forget about Simon Goodwin?
— Charlie Lambert (@pluggerpll) September 25, 2021
Ummm Basil Zempilas, let the Norm Smith medalist announce the Norm Smith Medalist. ๐คฆ๐พ

Mixed emotions on the AFL Grand Final commentaryย ย
A mix of opinions were shared on Twitter about the AFL commentary for the Grand Final.
Daisy Pearce was mostly congratulated for her excellent insight and analysis during the game however other commentators copped criticism over their commentary.
Below are some of the tweets footy fans posted!
Anyone who has been to an #AFL game knows how hard Daisy Pearce works. The entire game she is pacing, rehearsing and taking notes.
So happy to see her shine at the #AFLGrandFinal! She has worked harder than anyone else on the commentary team to be there, and it shows every week!

So disappointing to hear a commentary team obviously barracking for the Demons. Ruining a great game. When will @7AFL wake up๐ณ.#AFL #AFLGF
