Geelong host Richmond at Simonds Stadium in Round 21. Both teams are pushing for a top four spot and the match is expected to draw a large crowd and plenty of interest.

Simonds Stadium's most recent upgrade sees it fit around 36,000 fans at absolute capacity.

With the past two matches between the side attracting over 45,000 fans, a plethora of Richmond fans are set to miss out on tickets to the crucial clash.

However, Cats coach Chris Scott has labelled the calls to move the game to Richmond's home ground, the MCG, as borderline offensive.

"Out football club and our community spent a lot of time investing in our stadium to make it world class. As it is, we're still the only team in the competition that doesn't get to choose where they play their 11 home games," Scott told reporters on Thursday afternoon.

"So any suggestion when you have only have seven home games that one of them should be taken away from you at the last minute is, at the very least, flying in the face of what constitutes good integrity processes."

The premiership coach said Geelong members deserve to see their team play at home as much as any other club, regardless of the ground having a smaller capacity than some other grounds.

"I think it's frustrating for our supporters, especially the ones that are really proud of what we've built down here, we're virtually the only team in the competition that's invested all our profits back into the stadium for the benefit of our club long term but also for the benefit of our members," he said.

"Our members want to see us play more games here and any argument that teams should move their home game to their opposition's home ground just don't stand up to scrutiny.

"By that rationale, for example, we play Sydney next week. There's a possibility we could get more supporters at the SCG than Geelong, I don't think anyone's thinking we should move the game up there.

"It's a really really silly argument that's built off too many people's self-interest."

The next of the Kardinia Park redevelopment will extend the stadium's capacity to 40,000.
