The AFL has released the fixtures for the second last week of the season with the dates and times of both Preliminary Finals announced.
Sydney will host Fremantle at the SCG on Friday night, September 18, at 7:40pm AEST.
Hawthorn will then host two-time reigning premier Brisbane at the MCG in a twilight contest on Saturday, September 19, at 5:15pm AEST.
The first three weeks of the AFL Finals Series has seen many one-sided encounters, with last Friday night's thriller between Fremantle and Geelong at Optus Stadium the clear highlight.
Brisbane moved into the penultimate round of the season with a domination of Adelaide at home on Saturday night.
The Lions booted six goals in seven minutes to start the match before winning the game by a comfortable 53-point margin. Coincidentally, the same margin they lost to the Swans the week prior.
Brisbane will be hoping to become the second club to win multiple three-peats of premierships after Melbourne did it first across 1939-1941 and then again across 1955-57. The Lions' first three-peat came in the Leigh Matthews era from 2001-03.
The four remaining teams are also the sides that made up the top four at the end of the home-and-away season. Indicating the strength of position the double chance gives clubs.
Hawthorn and Brisbane have never played in a final against each other, aside from the old Fitzroy days.
For Sydney and Fremantle, this will be the third time the two sides have met in a Preliminary Final.
The Swans defeated the Dockers in 2006, while Fremantle returned serve in 2013 to reach its only ever Grand Final.
