Brisbane will need a major rejig of its defence after another pair of premiership players went down with injury.
Sydney is set to regain a star, but will miss a veteran after he suffered another setback.
Here's all the latest injury news from across the AFL...
Essendon forward out
Third-year Essendon player Nate Caddy is set to miss Round 4 after suffering delayed concussion symptoms following the loss to North Melbourne.
Rangy half-back/winger Angus Clarke is a test to return after missing the early part of the season with a syndesmosis injury, while Brayden Fiorini is a test to return from a back injury which resulted in him being a late withdrawal.
Meanwhile, Nick Bryan is set to play his first minutes in the VFL after his ACL rupture last season.
Top five pick out
Carlton defender Harry Dean is out of at least the next two matches after suffering a concussion, while hard working midfielder Cooper Lord will also miss this week with illness.
Dees debutant grounded
Melbourne's Hollywood story Paddy Cross is set for four to five weeks on the sidelines with a thumb injury
The late SSP signing looked comfortable in his first AFL game, but dislocated his thumb, which required surgery on Tuesday.
Teammate Changkuoth Jiath suffered a calf injury to sideline him for three to four weeks.
Tiger turmoil as youngsters downed
Richmond small forward Rhyan Mansell will miss at least three months of football after the club revealed they detected bone stress in his foot that requires surgery.
Mansell was already missing with a broken wrist, but this latest setback will push his return to later in the year.
Harry Armstrong (foot) and Jasper Alger (MCL) will be sidelined for eight weeks.
Nathan Broad is a test to face Port Adelaide, dealing with a calf issue while draftee Sam Cumming (shoulder) is pushing to return for some football this week.
Recruit grounded
Gold Coast recruit Jamarra Ugle-Hagan's AFL return will be put on hold for at least another fortnight, with the former Bulldog sidelined with a knee injury.
Gold Coast has also confirmed that Christian Petracca will miss some footy with a medium term hamstring injury while Matt Rowell is a test to feature this weekend.
Power midfielder a test
Port Adelaide's midfield will be bolstered this week, with Miles Bergman expected to be available after missing Round 3 with an ankle injury.
Teammate Esava Ratugolea will undergo an arthroscopy on his right knee after receiving a heavy knock against West Coast, with his return-to-play timeline to be confirmed.
Sydney star looking likely
Isaac Heeney has trained fully for the past week and is expected to feature for Sydney against West Coast this weekend, though remains listed as a test.
Meanwhile, luckless midfielder Taylor Adams' timeline for a hamstring strain, which he suffered in team training over the bye weekend, has been revealed as six to eight weeks.
Adams played only four senior games last year, and hasn't been sighted thus far due to an interrupted pre-season.
Longmuir provides updated Young timeline
Fremantle star Hayden Young likely remains a fortnight away from an AFL return with his hamstring injury.
"He's making progress, he's either one or two weeks away and probably leaning towards two to be safe," Longmuir said at his weekly presser.
"He's progressing well…his attitude's been great. He's helping players prepare each of the weeks he has been out and sitting in the box and giving me advice as well so he's going well."
Star Giant trio incoming
GWS will look to welcome back Aaron Cadman, Toby Bedford and Brent Daniels to the senior side this week.
Ryan Angwin, despite bursting an eardrum against Collingwood, isn't expected to miss any football.
Youngster Harry Oliver is recovering from an boot stud cut in his leg from the VFL. He has been missing in action the past fortnight.
However, star defender Sam Taylor has suffered a hamstring setback.
Initially, Taylor was tipped to return around Round 6, but a new timeline was set via the club's injury update, which places him no earlier than Round 10.
Saints defender a chance
St Kilda's Hunter Clark is a test to return from an adductor injury on the weekend, while Jack Macrae and Paddy Dow are nearing returns from their knee injuries.
Wounded Lions return to the den
Injuries have once again hit Brisbane hard, with Darcy Gardiner and Noah Answerth to miss Thursday's clash with Collingwood.
Lions coach Chris Fagan confirmed that Gardiner will miss at least eight weeks with a shoulder injury, while Answerth has been ruled out with concussion.
Crow out
Adelaide defender Jordon Butts will miss the next two matches after entering concussion protocols.
Butts experienced delayed concussion symptoms after a head clash during last week's clash against Geelong.
"Following the head clash, our medical team removed Jordon from the field to undertake a HIA, which Jordon passed," Crows Head of Football Adam Kelly said.
"The AFL Review Centre (ARC) classified the incident as a discretionary review and our medical team chose to assess him on the bench.
"He displayed no symptoms the day after the game, but unfortunately on Sunday this had changed and that led to a diagnosis of delayed concussion.
"Jordon's health and wellbeing is of paramount importance, and we stringently adhere to the AFL's concussion protocols, which mean that he will miss at least the next two games and will continue to be assessed."
Luckless Roo delayed
Confirming Zero Hanger's report last week, Josh Goater suffered a quad setback at training last week.
His return-to-play is estimated at two to three weeks, having previously been a test to play last weekend.
It follows his withdrawal mid-game from a VFL practice match a fortnight ago.
He has had a frustrating history of soft tissue injuries.
