Despite persistent reports surrounding his future, Richmond superstar Dustin Martin is set to remain in yellow and black for the next two seasons.

Following the death of his father, Shane, and the first genuine stretch ills relating to his body and form, the noise surrounding Martin's future at Tigerland intensified, with views that an opportunity to opt-out of the Melbourne bubble could be taken.

However, as reported by Sam McClure on Sportsday radio on Thursday evening, the three-time premiership winner and triple Norm Smith winner has reportedly told Richmond powerbrokers that his heart, and future, remain at Punt Road.
“In the last few minutes we can confirm Dustin Martin will be remaining at Punt Road next year, at least for next year,” McClure announced on Thursday.

“He has told management and Richmond officials that he wishes to be part of the club going forward and will be there Day 1 of pre-season when he is required.

“Dustin has been telling people close to him that he’s been considering a move away from Melbourne for some time and it had some interstate teams monitoring the situation.

“He had to make a call this week or next week, really before the trade period started gearing up.”

Irrespective of previous views, opinions and reports, Martin remained contracted with Richmond until the cessation of the 2024 season.

Since being selected with the third overall selection of the 2009 National Draft, the tattooed Tiger has added a pair of  Jack Dyer Medals, four All-Australian blazers, an AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award and a Brownlow to his brimming mantel.

Martin has donned the Tigers' yellow sash on 269 occasions, slotting 303 goals across his 13 stellar seasons with the club.
