Reports emerged on Saturday that Richmond star Dustin Martin could put pen to paper on a new deal with the club within the next fortnight, despite manager Ralph Carr maintaining the year his client will make up his mind at the end of the season.

“I’ll declare it. Dustin Martin will stay at Richmond, and we’re going to hear about it I think in the next two weeks,” Fairfax journalist Caroline Wilson said on 3AW radio on Saturday afternoon.

“I am certain now that the offer has got to the point where it’s acceptable to him, and I think he wants to accept it, I think his manager agrees. I think everyone’s in furious agreement now."

However, Richmond CEO Brendon Gale told ABC radio on Sunday the club is still unsure of Martin's intentions beyond this season.

“We’ve been given no indication otherwise and that’s where things are at,” Gale said.

“Unless you know something I don’t? Not to my understanding, no.

“This is something we’ve been dealing with all year.

“Dusty is in a great place, he’s happy, playing really good footy and contribting strongly to our team and that’s what’s important at this stage.

“We’ve been in constant discussions. The offer is a very compelling one and it’s an environment in which Dustin has really prospered in, he’s really grown.

"It’s a credit to himself, he’s a remarkable young man and all things considered, the offer we’ve put to him is a very strong one.”

Wilson stated that Martin will accept a "six to seven-year deal worth around $1.1 to $1.2 million a year to stay at Tigerland.”

He has also reportedly been offered a six-year deal worth more than $6 million from North Melbourne.
