Brisbane ruckman Oscar McInerney still remains in limbo as he continues to battle "soreness" that has kept him from the senior side over the past month.
Lions coach Chris Fagan had previously confirmed that McInerney had been dealing with back issues, and although listed as an emergency for the Adelaide trip, there was never any real chance of playing.
Depth option Darcy Fort has battled willfully in his absence, which could extend for a little while longer, according to midfielder Jarrod Berry.
"'Big O' has been a warhorse for us for so long and is one of those guys that won't say how he's feeling," Berry said.
"He's going pretty good from what I can gather. I'm not fully across it in terms of exactly the thing that's going wrong.
"He's needed that deserved rest. He'll be back in the later part of the year, and we're looking forward to having him back.
"I don't think we miss anything because 'Forty' fills that void really well and has been playing some great footy over the last few weeks."
In more positive news, premiership defender Brandon Starcevich could return after three months on the sidelines with concussion.
Starcevich copped a knock in Round 1 against Sydney, and has faced multiple setbacks in his recovery, which has seen three concussions in the past eight months.
The premiership defender has steadily built up his training volume and could be considered for selection against GWS on Saturday if he gets through this week's training block.
"He's put in a power of work," Berry said.
"We're looking forward to having him back, whether it's this week or next week, whenever he's ready. He just needs to make sure he's right."
Veterans Sam Day (hamstring) and Darcy Gardiner (knee) will also be in the mix for the Giants clash.
