Melbourne superstar Kysaiah Pickett faced the toughest tag of his young career during a 17-point loss to Sydney on Sunday afternoon.

The Demons pocket-rocket was well held over the first three quarters by Sydney master tagger James Jordan, with Pickett lacking the same impact he has had in previous weeks and only registering 14 disposals.

The tag was dropped in the fourth term and Pickett made the most, showing his clear capabilities by booting two goals and having eight disposals, with Jordan being sent back his way late to stop the Dees' surge.

Down in defence, Melbourne's Daniel "Disco" Turner impressed as he successfully clamped Sydney star Charlie Curnow.

Barring a momentary lapse in concentration, Turner kept Curnow (one goal) from having a serious impact on the game as the 24-year-old continues to grow as key defender.

Key forward Brody Mihocek exited the game early with a hamstring injury after tackling Sydney defender Lewis Melican inside forward 50.
