GWS co-captain Phil Davis says he was "disappointed" and "bemused" at being labelled a diver following allegations of staging from some of the league's most revered pundits.

David King and Cameron Ling spoke strongly about Davis, suggesting he went down too easily when he was struck by Bulldog Jack Redpath a fortnight ago.

Redpath was handed a three-week suspension after unsuccessfully challenging the charge at the Tribunal.

Davis was not impressed by comments made by some in the media and accused them of speaking without all of the facts.

"I was a little bemused by it all," he said.

"[S]ome of the people that were leading chorus in that didn't try to make contact or learn the facts.

"That's always a little bit disappointing."

GWS coach Leon Cameron echoed his co-captain's thoughts..

"It was a bit silly...it was a bit poor," Cameron said.

"It was disappointing coming from some ex-players...because they know how hard the game is.

"Everyone's entitled to their opinion. My opinion is Phil is one of our toughest players."

GWS heads to Geelong this weekend in a game which will determine who will make the top two.
