Sydney superstar Charlie Curnow will miss Saturday's match against North Melbourne with an abdominal issue while fellow recruit Jai Serong has been downed with a tight hamstring.
"Charlie Curnow won't play. He's got an abdominal issue that we need to work through," Sydney coach Dean Cox said.
"Serong's hamstring is a little bit tight. So, he's going to fall too short to train today. So, he won't be available."
Essendon key defender Ben McKay is understood to face the axe this week following immense scrutiny.
McKay has received Bronx cheers from Bombers fans amid calls for coach Brad Scott to make the difficult decision.
The decision is set to come as the Victorian club prepares for GWS, who house a star-pronged front half led by Aaron Cadman and Jake Stringer.
Collingwood will rejoice in the return of club great Scott Pendlebury on Saturday, who will equal the V/AFL games record against Geelong.
Pendlebury was managed last week, but will face the Cats. As will Jeremy Howe and Beau McCreery.
Pies ruckman Darcy Cameron has also passed required fitness tests to be available.
Cameron hurt his ankle against the Hawks, but was moving freely at training on Thursday, and will work in tandem with Oscar Steene.
Veteran Steele Sidebottom's hand has been ticked off, and he'll play this weekend.
