North Melbourne midfielder Luke Davies-Uniacke has turned his back on rival interest, penning a monster contract extension to remain at Arden Street until the end of 2032.
Davies-Uniacke fielded offers from rival clubs, including St Kilda, but opted to hold off on a decision to see the direction of the Kangaroos.
The 25-year-old was set to become a free agent, but after seeing growth from the youth of the club, he will remain in the royal blue and white for life.
It is understood that the deal is worth $1.3 million a season, or in excess of $9m, according toย AFL Media's Cal Twomey.
North Melbourne Head of Football Talent Brady Rawlings says the re-commitment of Davies-Uniacke is exciting for the future of the club.
"Luke is a very important and much-loved member of our playing group, so to have him sign on for seven more years is brilliant news for us and our supporters," Rawlings said.
"His long-term commitment, despite significant interest from other clubs, is also a fantastic show of confidence in our program and the future of the club.
"At 25, Luke has plenty of great football still ahead of him, and we look forward to watching him deliver it here at North Melbourne."
The former Pick 4 has played 112 games for the Kangaroos, claiming a Syd Barker medal last year as one of the most exciting prospects in the competition.
Davies-Uniacke is the sixthย Roo to recommit to the club long-term in recent years, joining Jy Simpkin, Nick Larkey, Cameron Zurhaar, Tristan Xerri (all until at least the end of 2029) and Harry Sheezel (2030).
Larkey said he felt "elation" when hearing the news of the monster seven-year extension, saying he would've understood if he was wearing different colours next year amid a tough time at Arden Street.
"Over the past few years when it's been tough her,e a lot of blokes could've taken off and left, and they'd have every right to," Larkey said.
"But it just shows he does belie,ve and he does see what we all see as well.
"It gives you a special feeling ... and through all the hardship we've been through, it will make the good times sweeter when you get there."
The Kangaroos will take on Gold Coast at Barossa Park on Saturday.
