Essendon utility Jayden Nguyen will miss at least one match, after being cited for rough conduct in his side's eight-point victory over Carlton in the VFL on Sunday.

Nguyen was handed a two-match ban for conduct deemed careless, with medium impact and high contact. The sanction can be reduced to one match with an early plea.

Having healthy bodies unavailable for selection through misdemeanours such as this is the last thing the struggling Bombers need, beleaguered by an injury list that contains 15 names.

Veteran contributors and exciting youngsters alike populate the list, with names like Jye Caldwell, Andrew McGrath, Isaac Kako, Dyson Sharp, Peter Wright and Nic Martin unable to guide the club out of its current mire.

Nguyen had featured at AFL level five times this season, registering at least 10 disposals in each contest, having dipped below that figure more often that not in his first season at the level, last year.

Elsewhere, four players at standalone clubs were cited for careless umpire contact, with Southport's Cooper MacDonald, Frankston's Kobe Askew, Coburg's Maison Goodman and Werribee's Charlie Lazarro lighter in the wallet after the weekend's action.
