The Tasmania Devils will reportedly be able to sign up to 12 17-year-old talents ahead of the 2027 and 2028 drafts, according to AFL Media's Cal Twomey.

It's the latest detail in the AFL's formal list build concessions for the club ahead of their entry into the league in 2028, assuming they maintain their conditional licence, and is notably more favourable than the list concessions provided to GWS and Gold Coast, the league's two most recent expansion clubs.

Twomey revealed the number of 17-year-olds the Devils could add ahead of their inaugural campaign, which the AFL left confidential during their initial announcement of concessions for Tasmania.

Tasmania's ability to pre-list players across two draft classes is an improvement on the expansion plan handed to the Giants and Suns, who only had a single year's worth of access.

GWS still profited strongly from this opportunity, most notably signing Adam Treloar, Jeremy Cameron and Dylan Shiel at 17 years old.

Twomey stated that the Devils can approach draft-year-plus-one players to sign them as 17-year-olds, but if they opt against and choose to wait until their draft the following season, the Devils will still have the chance to draft them with their significant capital.

The Devils will get the number one selection in the 2027 National Draft along with Picks 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13. However, selections 5, 7, 11 and 13 must be traded to other clubs either for players or other draft picks.
