Melbourne swingman Harrison Petty will miss the chance to take on Adelaide this week as coach Steven King confirmed his hamstring injury has ruled him out.
Petty tweaked his hamstring in the win over Essendon and was sent for scans.
In positive news, the Demons tall has resumed running, and the hope is he'll return after the club's Round 16 bye.
"It's not too serious. He'll miss this week, which is unfortunate ... hopefully with the bye next week, he just misses this one," King said.
In a bid to replace Petty, emerging forward Matthew Jefferson has been touted by the Melbourne coach as an option against the Crows.
Jefferson played seven consecutive games from Round 6, but was sent back to the VFL after the GWS loss.
His response to the dropping was a five-goal performance last week against the Bombers in the reserves.
King also alluded to bringing in help for Max Gawn, with the eight-time All-Australian flagged for more time inside 50.
Max Heath was strong in the VFL last week, recording 12 possessions, 16 hit-outs, four clearances, five tackles and a goal in the victory.
