St Kilda has met with Geelong to discuss a trade for Saints ruck Rowan Marshall ahead of the upcoming AFL trade period.
Marshall attempted to leave St Kilda for Geelong during last year's trade period, but a deal wasn't offered that would satisfy the Saints.
St Kilda traded for star ruck Tom De Koning last season and after one year running its ruck system with the pair, the Saints are now open to trading Marshall to the Cats.
AFL media is reporting that the two clubs met on Tuesday to discuss how a trade could be done for Geelong to acquire the 30-year-old ruck. He has one year to run on his current contract at St Kilda.
The Saints are also busy trying to re-sign second-year defender Alix Tauru.
"The Flying Viking" as he is often referred to due his flowing blonde hair recently toured Gold Coast's facilities after his management baulked at the first contract offer St Kilda gave the 19-year-old.
AFL media is reporting that the Saints have now increased their offer to Tauru to a four-year extension. He is already contracted for 2027 so the deal would take him through until the end of 2031.
Tauru has struggled to cement his spot in the senior side and has missed matches this season due to multiple suspensions for rough conduct in the VFL.
He was taken with Pick 10 in the 2024 National Draft and comes from Gippsland in Victoria's east.
