Melbourne son of a gun Kalani White is one of five players the Demons have cut.
White, a graduate of Gold Coast's Academy and son of Melbourne great Jeff, was on the club's rookie list and was cut but will be invited back to trial for a spot in the Supplemental Selection Period.
The club has also cut Murray Bushrangers alumni and fellow rookie Riley Onley, the injury-cursed Andy Moniz-Wakefield and Werribee recruits Aidan Johnson and Jack Henderson.
The Bees were both on the list for two seasons, combining for 11 games, while Moniz-Wakefield lined up in eight senior games across five seasons after being taken as a Category B rookie.
“We would like to thank Jack, Aidan, Andy, Riley and Kalani for the contribution they have made to our football program,” Melbourne list boss Tim Lamb said.
“Each of them has approached their time at the club with a strong level of commitment and professionalism, and we are grateful for everything they have given during their time at here.
“These decisions are never easy, and we wish all five players nothing but the best for whatever comes next in their football journeys.”
It leaves Ricky Mentha, Shane McAdam and Bailey Laurie as Melbourne's remaining out-of-contract players ahead of a trade period where they have been linked to several players including Calsher Dear, Jake Melksham and Bailey MacDonald.
