Mick Stinear, one of two remaining inaugural AFLW senior coaches, has signed a two-year deal to remain with the Melbourne Demons until 2024.

Melbourne is currently enjoying its most successful two-year stretch to date, sitting jointly atop the ladder in 2022 having made their first grand final appearance one year previous.

Melbourne's GM of AFLW, Marcus Wagner, confirmed the announcement to club media, stating that the re-signing is "an exciting one" for Melbourne players and fans.

"Mick has been integral to building our AFLW program into what it is today, and we are lucky to have such a passionate and driven leader at the helm," Wagner said.

"Alongside his knowledge and skillset, Mick's relationships with the players, coaches, football department and broader club staff are second-to-none. He has fostered an honest, high-performing environment, that our people feel proud to be part of.

"We are excited to see what Mick and the team can achieve this year, and in the years to come."

Stinear has led Melbourne to a 39-15 win-loss record during his tenure.
