Melbourne forward Brody Mihocek has suffered a neck fracture following the incident in Monday's Big Freeze clash with Collingwood.

The 33-year-old successfully underwent surgery overnight and doctors have confirmed he is up and walking today.

Melbourne's GM of AFL Football Alan Richardson said the club's top priority was the health and wellbeing of Mihocek.

“You never want to see an incident in our game, like what we saw with Brody on Monday,” Richardson said.

“Brody is in the very best of care and was able to undergo surgery last night, which, thankfully, went as planned. “Our primary focus right now is supporting Brody, his partner Polly and their family through his recovery, while ensuring his return to full health.”

Both clubs showed genuine concern after Collingwood's Billy Frampton's tackle left him in a vulnerable position, with Mihocek a 2023 Magpies premiership player who crossed to the Demons in the off-season.

The Frampton tackle is set to draw match review scrutiny.

Melbourne won the King's Birthday clash by eight points.
