St Kilda's Max King can't get a clean run of football with the 25-year-old leaving the ground early on Saturday.

Playing in his second game of VFL football, following an extended stint on the sidelines with various injuries, King looked to have picked up some form by kicking two goals early.

However, King's form was short lived as he didn't finish the match due to hamstring awareness.

The incident occurred in the second quarter when he took a mark leading out in front inside 50. King appeared to pull up short and instead of kicking for goal, he kicked short to a teammate before leaving the ground in a slow jog.

The St Kilda key forward will expect to be sent for scans to find out the extent of the issue.

King finished the match with a stat line of two goals, one behind, five disposals and five marks. His first game back came last weekend when he kicked one behind from four disposals on limited minutes.

The 202cm forward has had a rotten run with injury in recent years, playing his last game of AFL in Round 16, 2024.

King and the Saints will be hoping his exit from the game was precautionary only.

The talented King has kicked 159 goals from 83 games after being selected with pick four in the 2018 national draft.
