The AFL's night of nights is over, with Carlton captain Patrick Cripps crowned as the 2022 Brownlow medallist.

It was a thrilling count until the end, with several stars of the game still a very real chance to take 'Charlie' home with just a handful of rounds remaining.

Here's how the 2022 Brownlow Medal count unfolded:

Round 1

  • Patrick Cripps' huge outing against the Tigers only landed one early vote, while fellow medal contender Christian Petracca was seen as the best-afield in his side's win over the Bulldogs.
  • Cripps recorded 30 Disposals, 5 Marks, 8 Clearances, 3 Goals in the win over Richmond.

  • Clayton Oliver collected two votes to go to four votes overall, while Patrick Cripps was given another three votes for his outing against the Hawks.
  • Andrew Brayshaw added another two votes to sit at seven votes from three games.
  • Brayshaw and Cripps sit tied at the top of the leaderboard after three rounds with seven votes, while Petracca and Travis Boak sit a single vote behind them.

  • Three votes for Lachie Neale to sit on right overall. Callum Mills also with three votes.
  • Oliver one votes, Gawn two and Petracca three votes for the Demons
  • Andrew Brayshaw, Ben Keays and Christian Petracca tied for nine votes after five rounds.
