Brisbane Lions' best and fairest winner, Mitch Robinson, has failed in his bid to overturn a one-match ban for forceful front-on contact on Port Adelaide's Xavier Duursma in Brisbane's 10-point victory over the Power, in a day of stunning tribunal outcomes.

The incident occurred in the first quarter of the match, as both players charged towards a loose ball deep in Brisbane's forward 50.

The veteran midfielder argued during the hearing that he was bracing himself to minimise the impact of the hit for both himself and Duursma. Brisbane representatives also believed that a push from Lions teammate Dan McStay impacted the outcome of the incident.

Duursma took no further part in the game after the hit, with the young gun subbed out with a collarbone injury and no certainty to line up in Round 2.

Robinson took to Twitter after the jury decided to stick with the original one-match suspension.

"Very upset with that decision," the Lions star posted on Twitter.

"Unfortunately bracing for contact in a contested game comes with a price now.

"Although, I appreciate the tribunal considering our case!"

The Lions will be without the services of Robinson this weekend as Chris Fagan's side take on the Bombers on Saturday afternoon at Marvel Stadium.
