Outgoing Western Bulldogs premiership player Jake Stringer has made his intentions known: He wants to be a Bomber in 2018.

Stringer's manager, Robbie D'Orazio, was spotted at Etihad Stadium on Monday morning on the first day of the trade period, and reportedly told everyone that Stringer's desire was to play at Essendon next season.

With Geelong previously vying with the Bombers for Stringer's services, his preferred destination has finally been made public, which now allows both the Dogs and Essendon to work out a deal for the 23-year-old.

Essendon's general manager of football, Robb Kerr, spoke to AFL Trade Radio straight after the announcement, and confirmed the news.

"We've just spoken to the Bulldogs and we're confident we can get a deal done," Kerr said.

"We are confident Jake will be a very good player for Essendon."

However, whether Stringer ends up at Essendon remains to be seen, with the Bulldogs last week suggesting they would accept the best deal for the forward, even if that's with a side other than his destination club.

In his five years at the Dogs, Stringer played 89 games and has kicked 160 goals, while averaging 12.8 disposals and 3.2 marks per game over his career.
