Greater Western Sydney has suffered a huge blow in the run into finals, with star forward, Jeremy Cameron, ruled out for the next three weeks due to a hamstring injury.

Cameron missed rounds 17 and 18 due to hamstring tightness, before returning this week for the Giants' win over Fremantle.

However, he further strained his hamstring and will miss the next three matches.

“He got a hit in his back in the second quarter and felt some symptoms down that leg,” GWS Head of Athletic Performance David Joyce said.

“He tested really well throughout the second half. We went out repeatedly just to check on him and he was fine. We specifically tested him at three-quarter time and he was fine.

“He actually presented worse post match so we scanned him and unfortunately it’s revealed he’s got a hamstring strain. It’s a grade two which means three weeks.”

Despite the injury, Joyce said Cameron was not rushed back into the team too early.

“There’s no reason why he shouldn’t have played the game, he was absolutely fine to go into the game,” Joyce said.

“He couldn’t have been more prepared. He wasn’t rushed back, it was just one of those unfortunate things.”

The Giants face Melbourne at home, Western Bulldogs away and West Coast at home over the next three weeks, before travelling to Geelong to take on the Cats in Round 23.
