Former Gold Coast coach Rodney Eade has spoken out over Tuesday's events that saw him sacked as the coach of the Suns.

After being told he would not have his contract renewed next season, Eade made the decision to leave the club immediately, meaning he will not coach the remaining three games of the season.

In an exclusive chat with the Herald Sun, Eade said he was not bitter about the call, but did admit he was disappointed by the decision.

“I was disappointed, I told them I didn’t agree with the decision but I accept the umpire’s call,’’ Eade said.

“’I’m too experienced and been through a lot to be a bitter, bitter is not an emotion.’’

"I virtually see this year as being like a first-year coach, my first year in the job, after what happened in the first two years," Eade said when asked if he was given a fair shot.

“I’d certainly like longer.’’

Gold Coast chief executive Mark Evans and Suns chairman Tony Cochrane announced the decision on Tuesday morning to the media, and said assistant coach Dean Solomon would be the interim coach until the end of the season.
