UPDATE: Former Richmond player Jake King was arrested on Wednesday afternoon and charged with making threats to kill, while current Hawthorn forward Tyrone Vickery is being investigated by Victoria police over extortion claims.

Both players were arrested outside King's tattoo parlour City of Ink in South Melbourne on Wednesday, and the 33-year-old was hit with multiple charges.

King was charged with threats to kill, making threats to kill, two counts of threats to inflict serious injury, as well as two counts of using a carriage service to harrass.

The Herald Sun believe police are looking in to whether Vickery hired King to help him settle a dispute over a six-figure sum Vickery was owed.

“Hawthorn Football Club is aware that Ty Vickery is assisting police in an investigation. As the matter is under investigation the club will not be making further comment at this time,” Hawthorn released in a statement.

The Herald Sun have reported that Victorian Police are investigating a current and former AFL player over serious matters.

A 33-year-old man from Thornbury has been arrested in Clarendon Street, South Melbourne, and was taken into custody by police over alleged extortion and threats.

The police took the man into custody in front of tattoo parlour City of Ink, which is owned by former Richmond player Jake King and underworld figure Tony Mitchell.

The Herald Sun contacted the AFL on Wednesday afternoon and asked for a comment but did not get a reply, although they confirmed the league are aware of the issue.
