From the outside looking in, it appears that Geelong will once again be old warriors in 2027, with trade targets such as St Kilda's Rowan Marshall and GWS' Toby Greene adding to a talent-laden, but ageing forward line.
Marshall is 30 years old, while Greene will be 33 later this year, and the pair, who are both expected to move to Geelong next month, will join the likes of Jeremy Cameron (33) and Patrick Dangerfield (36) in attack.
But looking at the Cats' forward depth and abundance of talent, could its ageing reputation be a Fugazi?
The Cats have shown they have an impressive list of young guns in their side, with key forward Shannon Neale (24) and medium-sized forward Oliver Henry (24) having career-best seasons, with the pair kicking 52 and 48 goals, respectively.
Second-year forward Jay Polkinghorne (20) demonstrated his aerial and key position capabilities across his eight games where he kicked 14 goals.
Geelong also has a nice mix of experienced forwards in their prime, with mercurial pair Gryan Miers (27) and Shaun Mannagh (29) flying.
Add to the mix that Geelong is considering a trade for young Hawthorn key forward Calsher Dear (21), and the Cats could have a dynamic and multi-generational (in football terms) attack in 2027.
Dangerfield will be put on cotton wool for the majority of next season's home-and-away rounds. Cameron will be hoping to get back to full fitness after struggling all year with multiple injuries, all linked with his broken arm from the 2025 Grand Final.
