Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley has played down concerns surrounding hampered duo Jason Horne-Francis and Aliir Aliir in the wake of Sunday's win over Melbourne.

Both players were unable to finish the game at Adelaide Oval due to shoulder and knee concerns respectively, with Aliir being subbed out of the contest.

Horne-Francis was dealing with a shoulder issue in the final term following a fend-off, with the former Pick 1 selection going down to the rooms before returning to the interchange, where he remained until the final siren.

Hinkley said Horne-Francis - who returned from a hamstring injury over the weekend - looks to have suffered a 'stinger' to his shoulder and isn't too hurt from the ailment.

"We think so," Hinkley said of Horne-Francis avoiding structural damage to his shoulder.

"We don't get any medical updates tonight other than 'It's a bit sore', but he should be OK.

"We'd like him to be OK, as he had a pretty good start coming back (from injury)."

Aliir hurt his shoulder earlier in the game but was subbed out at the final break as a precautionary measure for the Power, who had fellow key defenders Esava Ratugolea and Brandon Zerk-Thatcher holding down the fort in defence.

Hinkley said Aliir could've continued in the match, with the Power seeing the time of his injury assessment as an opportune window to bring tactical sub Hugh Jackson into the contest.

"He'd given his knee a bit of a knock," Hinkley said of Aliir.

"We took him out because we had the extra tall. We probably necessarily need it, so we were being cautious with him.

"We had a bit of carnage late in the game, with 'Hornet' getting a stinger and someone else coming off.

"We had a few that had some little knocks, bumps and bruises. But we're optimistic they could've played the game out."

The win for Port Adelaide has the South Australian side sitting two wins outside of the top eight, with a pair of home games to come over the next fortnight against Sydney and Carlton.
