The Hawthorn Hawks are set to be able to call upon Changkuoth Jiath, Tom Mitchell and Jaeger O'Meara for their Round 1 clash with the North Melbourne Kangaroos on Sunday afternoon.

Hawthorn were lumped with a horrid 2021 season, finishing in 14th spot on the ladder with just seven wins to their name - four outside of the eventual top eight cut off, which was shared by the Greater Western Sydney Giants and Essendon Bombers.

Injured didn't help their cause, but the triple boost for Round 1 will be a much needed shot in the arm for the Hawks.

It had been previously feared Mitchell and O'Meara - who have a combined match tally approaching 300 - would be forced to miss some time to start the season after they both missed the pre-season clash a fortnight ago with the Richmond Tigers in Devonport.

Mitchell has been battling groin soreness, while O'Meara has had a knee complaint, however, afl.com.au are reporting the duo will be good to go for Sunday's clash.

Jiath, on the other hand, managed to make it through a CFL practice match on Friday evening as he recovers from a PCL injury in the knee, which he sustained all the way back in last July.

He impressed in the contest against Frankston while playing for Box Hill and is now thought to be in the frame to be selected as one of Hawthorn's defenders for the season opener.

The 22-year-old made his debut at the end of the 2018 season for Hawthorn, having been taken as a category B rookie in 2017. He has since played 23 games for the club, and was named to the 22 under 22 team last year.

While the triple boost is a positive for Hawthorn, it's understood Will Day is not yet nearing a return for the club.

Hawthorn's clash with North Melbourne will get underway at 1:10pm (AEDT) on Sunday from the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
