Promising Gold Coast midfielder Matt Rowell has been taken off the ground with a shoulder injury early into the Suns’ clash with Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.

Rowell has been ruled out of returning to the field, with the club sweating on the verdict of the injury.

The 19-year-old collected three consecutive sets of 10 votes in the AFL Coaching votes and is rated as one of the favourites for the Brownlow Medal after averaging 21 touches, 6.5 tackles and 4.8 clearances a game.
