Uncapped Gold Coast ruckman Ned Moyle has signed a two-year contract extension that will see him remain at the club until the conclusion of the 2024 season.

The 20-year-old ruck was drafted at Pick 5 in the 2021 Mid-Season Draft and told the club website that he is "really happy" on the Gold Coast.

“Since joining the club midway through last year I feel like I have learnt a lot from the other players and coaches and I am excited to continue my development," he said.

The 205cm ruck started brightly for the Suns' VFL side, racking up 44 hit-outs and 12 disposals in a drubbing of the Northern Bullants.

“I didn’t get to play too much last year but, that just makes me all the more excited to get into it this season and hopefully push for my AFL debut," said Moyle.

With Jarrod Witts' successful return from an ACL injury, Moyle and Matt Conroy, also yet to debut, are unlikely to see much AFL action with big men Levi Casboult and Mabior Chol also getting minutes in the middle.

The Suns' general manager of player talent and strategy, Craig Cameron, said the Suns were "really impressed" with Moyle's progression.

“He’s been able to compete really well against some experienced opposition this year which we are excited to see more of in the future," Cameron said to the Suns' website

Moyle featured in Gold Coast's pre-season match against Geelong, playing a third of the game and recording eight hit-outs. He also played in the place of Witts in the practice match against Port Adelaide, where Moyle was impressive in the Suns' victory.

The Suns will play the Giants this Saturday afternoon after a gallant loss to Melbourne last weekend.
