Greater Western Sydney Captain Toby Greene would prefer to finish his career as a one-club player in the midst of this year's upcoming free agency.
Greene will surpass Callan Ward's record for most games played by a Giants player in the club's history when he plays against North Melbourne in Canberra on Sunday.
The temptation of returning to his home in Victoria has been the talk around Greene since he was drafted at No.11 in 2011 and is out of contract at the end of this season.
When asked if he wants to be a one-club player, Greene said: “I think it's something you'd probably look back on after your career.”
“I guess the best part is probably bringing back your kids and future kids in 10 or 15 years' time.
“It (GWS) is somewhere I've really enjoyed as well. It's somewhere that's looked after me.
Putting perspective on his time at the club, Greene reflected on how he has grown over the years of development at the club.
Greene and former captain Stephen Coniglio are the only Giants left from the 2012 inaugural team after Ward retired last year.
“It's a great connection me and Cogs (Coniglio) have; it's something I really hold dearly," Greene said.
“Luke Power and Chad (Cornes) were 32 or 33 when we were 18.
“I thought that was so old and that's me now.
“They were great mentors and great people and sort of led the standards in the right way and certainly took a lot from them.
“It is funny how your perspective changes and footy changes over time.
The 14th place Giants will take on a fifth placed (4-2) North Melbourne team - who are having the strongest start since it made finals in 2016.
North Melbourne will welcome back star ruckman Tristan Xerri (suspension) and 19-year-old Finn O'Sullivan (jaw) this week.
“They're a good young team and they've got a lot of good young talent, then they got some older boys that are really contributing well as well,” Greene said.
“I'm not really surprised how they're (North Melbourne) going.”
