Having missed Friday night's clash with Western Bulldogs through injury, it turns out Geelong star Gryan Miers is having his right ACL assessed for a tear.
The gun midfielder-forward allegedly went for scans earlier this week that revealed damage to his right ACL.
While it was suggested he would only miss one or two games with knee soreness, Seven's Mitch Cleary reported on Saturday that Geelong is investigating whether Miers has fully torn his ACL, which would be a season ending injury.
If the 27-year-old's injury is just a partial tear, Miers could return later in the season.
Miers, a Geelong native, has played 160 games for the Cats since being drafted with pick 57 in 2017. He achieved the record for most goal assists in a home-and-away season in 2023 and won the premiership with Geelong in 2022.
If Miers is to miss a significant period of time with the injury it will be a big loss for Geelong as the club hunts for redemption after its dour 2025 grand final performance against two-time reigning champions Brisbane.
