Star Fremantle forward Josh Treacy has been found guilty of staging in his side's victory against Brisbane.

The 23-year-old was initially fined $1000 but challenged the match review officer's decision. However, the AFL found he was guilty of the act and upgraded the fine to $1500.

He lost a one-on-one marking contest against Brisbane's Harris Andrews in the fourth quarter, going to ground after some contact from the Lions skipper.

It is Treacy's first offence.

His Dockers teammates Matthew Johnson and Shai Bolton have accepted fixed financial sanctions for striking and careless contact with an umpire respectively.

Adelaide's Josh Rachele and Brisbane's Cam Rayner were both charged for staging in Round 11 as the AFL cracks down on the action.

Staging can include, but is not limited to excessive exaggeration of contact in an unsportsmanlike manner.

Calls for the punishment for staging to be increased have reverberated around the competition for multiple years.

Dockers coach Justin Longmuir, last year, suggested that a $10,000 fee would deter players more so, while Nathan Buckley said a one-week suspension for dives would help reduce the amount of incidents.

Treacy has kicked 28 goals in 12 games this year, establishing himself as one of the best key forwards in the competition.
