Geelong is almost in every conversation regarding a player wanting out of their club. Why?

The Cats present as an enticing prospect: located outside the Melbourne bubble, near Victoria's surf coast, host the AFL's greatest coach, boast a litany of stars and offer a lifestyle no other club can provide.

So it checks out why Geelong is always in the running for rival players, and this year is no different.

Many names have been linked to the Cats, so narrowing it down to five is no easy feat.

But a shoutout to Richmond's Nick Vlastuin, who, despite being contracted for next year, could receive interest from around the competition, and Geelong would pose as a likely destination.

Darcy Wilson (St Kilda)

The Saints speedster has yet to commit to the Moorabbin club, and has opened the doors for rivals to swoop.

As per the status quo, Geelong have been linked to Wilson, and he fits the mould of a Cats player. Fast, daring and bold. Similar to the likes of Max Holmes, Bailey Smith and Patrick Dangerfield.

The 20-year-old is from Wangaratta and was drafted out of the Murray Bushrangers, so he has an affinity to the country club feel. Geelong can offer that, being slightly off-Broadway as the 'club from down the highway'.

  1. Do you know what letter comes in the alphabet between E for Essendon and G for Geelong? F! F for Fremantle. You know, the team that is on top of the ladder with a 3 game buffer.

    Out west they constanlty talk about Victorian media bias, and over here they constantly deny it. But on this site, they just ignore it?
