Tom Liberatore will miss another game for the Western Bulldogs, remaining in concussion protocols.

The Dogs veteran was concussed 12 days ago against Geelong, making him technically available to take on Fremantle on Friday night, but is not ready.

"Treading wearily," coach Luke Beveridge said.

"Just not ready. Not quite himself yet. He's not up for selection this week. Once he gets through a main training session, then you know he can play. That hasn't happened yet."

It is not seen as a major setback long-term at this stage, with the club taking a cautious approach and keeping him in concussion protocols.

Liberatore suffered an accidental head knock from Patrick Dangerfield against the Cats and has a history of knocks.

In positive news, key forward Aaron Naughton is set to play against Fremantle despite a sickening fall in last week's clash.

Naughton landed awkwardly on his neck, and was stretchered from the ground. The Bulldogs cleared him of concussion and any serious injuries.

"I reckon he'll be fine," Beveridge said.

"The Indian rubber man. It's amazing he's okay. Once they got him through of the initial analysis and investigation on whether he damaged his neck, and that came up clear.

"The great thing he is, he didn't have any worries concussion wise, so he'll train and I imagine he's going to play.

"I was surprised he was okay."

Ruckman Tim English "appears to be closer" to returning from significant bone bruising and swelling associated with his medial knee ligament injury.

"If he gets through, we'll process it."

Captain Marcus Bontempelli and midfielder Ed Richards are tipped to play, albeit sore.
