Premiership Collingwood defender Heritier Lumumba has released a statement via Facebook, calling out his old club for racist comments made towards him during his playing days.

In the statement, Lumumba states he was 'ostracised internally' after speaking out against a racist remark made by Magpies president Eddie McGuire towards Sydney legend Adam Goodes.

Lumumba also states his nickname around the club was 'chimp' and the culture around the club caused a negative impact on his mental health and wellbeing.

This statement comes as Black Lives Matter protests have been held in Australia and across the world in the past weeks.

Lumumba played 223 games for Collingwood and Melbourne after being selected in the 2004 Rookie Draft.
