Fremantle Dockers key defender Alex Pearce has been offered a three-year extension to remain a Docker until the end of the 2025 season.

Pearce is a restricted free agent, but the club is keen to lock away the in-form key defender and there is confidence in his commitment beyond 2022.

The key tall's signature would be a significant boost after fellow defender Hayden Young recently signed a long-term extension.

At 27 years of age, Pearce is seemingly set to become a Docker for life, and be a big part of Fremantle's rise to premiership contention in the near future.

He has been one of the standout key defenders this season, both as a one-on-one player against opposition key forwards and as an experienced leader in Fremantle's young defensive unit.

Pearce has also captained the club several times this year in the absence of Nat Fyfe.

Pearce has battled multiple leg injuries over the journey, having played just 75 games since being drafted at pick no.37 in the 2013 Draft. But his career is trending more positively with the relative absence of injury, and now a multi-year deal on offer, according to AFL.com.au.

He has played all but one game in 2022 - in Round 4 against the GWS Giants - telling The West Australian yesterday that he's keen to shrug off any ankle concerns to keep playing.
