Kane Cornes has revealed one of the stranger AFL stories of recent times.
Speaking on SEN SA Breakfast, Cornes spoke about a certain niggle he received from North Melbourne legend Brent Harvey.
“I remember playing on Boomer Harvey, he was very good (at the niggle),” Cornes said.
“He had been tagged his whole life, 400-odd games.
“Very good foot stomper but also very good squirrel gripper.
“I’m not sure if this was deliberate or not, but I am sure one time he had a handful of deep heat and went with the squirrel grip, which burnt.”
Cornes was pressed for more details, but still left it somewhat vague as to what exactly occurred.
“It was a wet day, it was at the bottom of a pack, and I ended up with Deep Heat on the old fella.”
“Boomer Harvey, the best niggler that I’ve played against and a very difficult opponent.”
