Contracted Carlton forward Zac Fisher is seen to be a stronger chance of landing at a rival Victorian club rather than West Coast, who have been previously flagged as a keen suitor for the out-of-favour Blue.

Fisher, who is currently battling a hamstring injury, has had his name raised as a potential trade target this year after being dropped on multiple occasions under Michael Voss.

The 25-year-old played in the opening seven games of 2023 but has since played in just one game at AFL level between injury and form issues, with Fisher tallying five games in the VFL to recapture his best form.

At the state league level Fisher was utilised through midfield and managed a 40-disposal outing against Sydney's VFL to earn a reprieve under Voss before falling out of the senior side once again.

Fisher has looked to make a move into midfield from the forward line but has struggled to have the impact initially hoped for, while opportunities have also been hard to come by given the Blues' star-studded midfield ensemble.

The desire to lock in a potential midfield role could see Fisher look elsewhere in 2023, with The Herald Sun reporting Carlton are open to parting with Fisher for him to find greater opportunities at a rival club.

A Guildford product from Western Australia, Fisher was linked to West Coast amid external interest in his services, however the publication suggests the Eagles are understood to have cooled their interest in the Blues forward.

It is understood that West Coast are looking to prioritise their draft selections over swapping them for Fisher as they work through a list rebuild.

The situation has led to Fisher being more likely to shift to a Victorian club rather than move back to his home state. Fisher is contracted until the end of 2025, having re-signed with a two-year extension 12 months ago.

The small-framed Fisher has averaged 17.75 disposals, 3.50 marks and 1.50 rebounds 50s from his eight games in the navy blue this season.

Fisher isn't the only name Carlton could be working with over the coming months ahead of the off-season exchange window, with ruckman Tom De Koning, defender Mitch McGovern and utility Jack Silvagni all off-contract.
