Collingwood livewire Jordan De Goey is set to be placed on a modified training program after scans confirmed the existence of bone bruising to the 28-year-old's knee.
The setback is believed to be a result of a nasty knee-on-knee collision that saw the premiership star limping off during last Wednesday's training session, per 7 News.Â
This comes just six days after De Goey ensured the broadcaster that there was "nothing to be worried about" and that the situation was nothing more than a "bit of carry-on" on his part.
The midfield bull has only reached the 20-game mark in two of his past six seasons in the league and will be hoping to have an injury-free season as the Magpies look to get back to their sparkling 2023 form.
Despite also experiencing struggles of his own, De Goey's superstar teammate Nick Daicos is expected to feature in the first game of Collingwood's 2025 premiership tilt as the Brownlow favourite nears a return to full training.
The 22-year-old's pre-season has been rocked by a plantar fasciitis injury but Daicos is adamant that he will suit up for the highly anticipated clash against GWS on March 9.

Speaking to AFL.com.au the two time All-Australian alleviated concerns by stating that his "body is feeling good", he's "tracking really well" and that he is "super excited" heading into the new season.
It is not yet clear as to whether Collingwood will take a more conservative approach and remove Daicos and De Goey from scratch match and Community Series duties entirely or whether the team will allow the duo to appear in a minor role.
In other Collingwood injury news, Tom Mitchell is finally back running with the team after spending some time out over the summer with a bone stress injury to the foot, while the luckless Dan McStay isn't expected to spend any more time on the sidelines as the key forward left the training field on Friday following a marking collision with Tew Jiath.
Young forward Harvey Harrison will be looking to make his long-awaited return around the midway point of the season as the 21-year-old recovers from a ruptured ACL.
