Collingwood captain Darcy Moore was ruled out of the Pies match against West Coast at half-time.

The skipper injured himself in the ruck late in the second quarter, relieving Darcy Cameron, with the Pies going in with just one ruck for the first time since Round 1 following Oscar Steene's ACL rupture last week.

The key defender playing in the ruck raised eyebrows, with Dan McStay and Billy Frampton having filled the role in the past.

Moore suffered a low grade hamstring in the pre-season, and appeared to do a similar injury when trailing Jack Williams in a ruck contest.

He has a long history of soft tissue injuries, while the decision to utilise him in the ruck is likely to cause debate.

It continues a frustrating 2026 of injury for Moore, with the West Coast game just his fourth of the year, having missed the trip to Sydney last week due to concussion.

It came after a first half where Moore appeared to be recapturing some strong form, taking four intercept mark and backing himself to peel off and set up the game with daring ball use.
