Former North Melbourne list boss Glenn Luff has linked up with the Blues after a stint away from the game, while Fremantle has added scout Andrew Farrell to its list management arsenal.

Luff, also previously a part of Champion Data's operation in an analyst role, will be joining Carlton's recruiting team in a part-time capacity, per The Age's Marc McGowan.

Working under list manager Nick Austin, Luff will spectate one under-18 Talent League game each weekend as part of a wider club effort to evaluate external footballing talent.

After casting aside his powerbroking position at the Kangaroos mid-way through last season, Luff accepted a consulting role at St Kilda late in the year in the midst of its club review, where he was tasked with comprehensively examining the Saints' list management decisions and presenting his subsequent findings.

Luff will balance his newly-acquired gig with his pre-existing role at Bundoora Park as golf operations manager.

Meantime, Farrell, who plied his recruiting trade at Fremantle over a decade ago with now list manager David Walls, kick-started his own consulting company that existed to provide draft information and advice to subscribing AFL clubs.

Now back with the Dockers, Farrell will head the club's South Australian recruiting effort, based out of Melbourne.

Fremantle wrapped up a jam-packed player movement period at the end of last year, orchestrating trades for star-in-the-making Luke Jackson and decorated midfielder Jaeger O'Meara, as well as adding a bevy of draft talent in November.

Both Carlton and Fremantle were unable to emerge from the opening weekend of the new season with a victory, as the Blues prepare to commence Round 2 against fellow winless outfit Geelong on Thursday night (7:20 PM AEDT) at the MCG.
