According to Channel Seven reporter Mark Stevens, the Blues will again go all out during the trade period to try and lure Tom Papley away from the Swans.

Papley nominated Carlton during last year's trade period as his preferred choice of club to be traded, but the Blues' offer of Pick 9 wasn't enough to get the deal done.

The 24-year old is contracted at the Swans until at least 2023, but that won't be stopping the Blues from trying to go after their preferred target for a second straight year.

“Swan Tom Papley nominated Carlton as his preferred home last season during the trade period. The Blues couldn’t get it done,” Stevens told Seven News on Thursday night.

“I believe the Blues are again preparing an all-out assault on the gun forward.

“Pick No.9 was seen as the going rate last season, Papley has only got better. He is contracted beyond this season.”

Papley is currently equal first in the Coleman Medal race with 15 goals on the season.

Given the rise in stock in 2020, it may take a bit more convincing this time around for the Blues to get their man.
