According to journalist Damian Barrett, the market is beginning to go cold on young Brisbane forward Josh Schache.

The 19-year-old is in his second season with the Lions after being drafted with the number two pick in 2015, but is out of contract at season's end and is currently debating whether to remain in Brisbane or head back home to Victoria.

It was reportedly going to take offers of around $700,000 a season to lure Schache back to his home state, although on Triple M's Friday Huddle before the Sydney v Hawthorn clash, Barrett said offers like that simply weren't coming in anymore.

"The market has cooled for him," Barrett said.

"It's still there. The market is still there, but the finances attached to the interest is nowhere near what the management want it to be, and nowhere near what it was only six weeks ago."

Richmond are still believed to be the top Victorian club after Schache, with their lack of a second tall in the forward line visible already so far this season.

The same can be said for Collingwood, who are struggling with a second key tall to play alongside Darcy Moore.

While both clubs are interested in the left footer, Brisbane still remain hopeful that Schache re-signs at the end of the season.
