The Western Bulldogs are emerging as one of the key players in the 2020 Trade Period.

The Dogs will be looking to add to their forward half next season with an early bid for Oakleigh Chargers youngster Jamarra Ugle-Hagan.

The likely No.1 pick booted 24 goals from nine games for the Chargers last year and was crucial in his side's NAB League premiership.

The Dogs currently hold their first pick at No.12 with clubs well aware that selection could be their own, with the Bulldogs looking to bolster their draft points, per afl.com.au.

Under the Draft Value Index, later picks are worth more in terms of points than a single early selection. Rival clubs will look to offer the Bulldogs more points with later picks to help them pay for an early bid for their Next Generation Academy prospect.

North Melbourne may look to put together later picks for the Dogs as they aim to bolster their top-end talent. Currently, they have picks No.2 and 9 and could possibly walk away with the Bulldog's pick No.12.

Adelaide may also look to offer the Bulldogs more value selections as they currently hold picks No.20 and 29.

The Bulldogs plan of attack will be similar to that of the Giants approach last year with the bid of Tom Green, with GWS handing Adelaide their 2020 first-round pick.

The Doggies will have room to move in this year's Trade Period and will look to do everything they can to secure the services of Ugle-Hagan.
